Jessica's trip to The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the sight-seeings which make Australia famous, it is known for the world's largest coral reef system composed of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands stretching for over 2,600 kilometers over an area of approximately 344,400 square kilometers. So, after I finished my final exams for the year, some friends and I went to Cairns to see the Great Barrier Reef and decided to experience diving and take a helicopter trip in order to see the extraordinary natural work.

The day was quite a humid, though our expectations for the trip were not affected at all. We chose a boat company called "Reef Magic", and the crew explained very clearly about what we need to do when we go underwater. After about one hour, we arrived at a platform. It was very far away from the the coastline, so all you could see was blue sky and blue sea water. What a beautiful and peaceful world!

The first activity we did was to take a glass bottom boat to be closer with those beautiful reefs. The boat driver brought us away from the platform until we could see lots of reef surrounding us. They are in different shapes and some of them are already very old. Also, groups of colorful fishes were travelling around the reef which make the reef become lively.
The second thing we did, which was also the most memorable experience we had during the trip, was to look at the reef as a whole from the sky by helicopter. It was also the first time that I had been in a helicopter, which made me pretty exited about the experience. Since the beauty of the reef cannot be described with my poor English, I would like to show you the pictures I took from the helicopter.
